New Jersey 9-Year-Old Tosses Bomb Onto Neighbor's Porch, Faces Charges

MILLVILLE, NJ (AP)  -- A 9-year-old boy in Millville faces charges he lobbed a homemade chemical bomb onto his neighbor's front porch.

Police say he made the device using simple household items including drain cleaner.

No one was injured in the Friday night incident.

Police say the boy waited until the homeowner came out to investigate, then made an obscene gesture toward him and ran away.

The 9-year-old was charged with possession of an explosive device and disorderly conduct, and released to the custody of his parents pending Family Court hearing.
