NEW YORK (AP) -- Police say a Manhattan woman was the madam of a stable of high-priced prostitutes, running an operation that kept two East Side apartments and maintained four Web sites.
Kristen Davis was arrested Tuesday on charges of money laundering and promoting prostitution. Police say they found $19,000 in cash in the 32-year-old's apartment.
Her lawyer, Mark Jay Heller, says Davis worked in hedge funds and is now pursuing a master's degree in psychology. He says she has no previous arrest record.
Police say Davis' roughly 15 prostitutes charged up to $1,200 per hour.
