BROOKLYN, CT (AP) -- State police say a Brooklyn man has died after his clothes apparently caught fire as he was burning debris in a pit in his back yard.
State police say the body of Henry Gauthier, believed to be in his 80s, was found Wednesday afternoon at his Woodward Road home.
Gauthier's body was found in what appeared to be a sitting position on a stone wall near the pit.
An autopsy has found that Gauthier died as a result of smoke inhalation and heat injuries. The medical examiner terms the death accidental as a result of a flash fire.
State police say it appears Gauthier tried to remove his clothing after it caught fire.
