Car Jumps Curb in Chinatown; 12 Injured
|
NEW YORK (AP) -- At least 12 people have been hurt, two seriously, when vehicles veered onto sidewalks in two bustling Manhattan neighborhoods.
Authorities say a 60-year-old driver was pulling out of a Chinatown parking spot Friday when he accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brakes. His car mounted the curb and hit people sitting on a bench and walking on the sidewalk.

Police say another vehicle hit five or six people and a building later Friday in the Garment District. They say the crash inflicted minor injuries.
