Tales of Corruption on the East Coast's Entertainment Capital
AP Reporting
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Recent revelations of political corruption are outlandish even by Atlantic City's standards.
They involve a topless hooker and a Baptist minister having sex in a seedy motel room, a spy camera hidden in a clock radio and a tape delivered to a radio talk show host by someone wearing oversized glasses, a fake beard and surgical gloves.
Those were some of the details that led to the sentencing of former City Council President Craig Callaway this week to three years in prison for setting up a council rival.
The nation's second-largest gambling resort has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons lately. But it's hardly new: Sleaze sometimes seems ingrained in a city where four of eight mayors up to 2007 were busted for corruption.
