Corzine says he will acknowledge the financial strains facing New Jersey and the country in the speech Tuesday afternoon. But he will emphasize that there are better days ahead for the Garden State and its residents.
He is expected to highlight the economic assistance and recovery measures he proposed in October, many of which have become law. He says those actions have put New Jersey at the forefront in dealing with the historic financial crisis.
The Democratic governor delivers the speech one week before President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration. Corzine is expected to laud the incoming federal chief executive as a helpful partner for the states.
