NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Since I was a teen I have always loved listening to the radio. In my car, at home, or on my walkman (Every kid with an I-Pod: A what?).
It's just always fascinated me so why not get a job in the radio field?
I started at my college's station working different jobs. DJ, News Anchor, production. Whatever they had, I wanted to do it. Before my last semester I interned for the summer at WCBS 880 and had a blast helping will all kinds of projects in the newsroom and observing reporters out in the field. After that was over I knew I wanted to come back to the city so right before it was time to graduate, I called Rob Sanchez to see if they had any openings and that January I was back in the newsroom, except this time I get paid to work here.
(Note: Rob didn't answer his phone but I left a message. When he called back, I was in the middle of a class. It's the only time I ever walked out of a class to answer my phone.)
I prepare a lot of the features you hear on our station. It takes a whole shift to work on all of them every week but I enjoy it. So pay attention to them, you'll learn something.
