TRENTON (AP) -- New Jersey poison control officials say a Burlington County woman has died and five other people have been sickened in separate incidents around the state after accidentally drinking small amounts of oil used to light patio torches.
Officials say the victims mistakenly thought they were drinking apple juice.
Steve Marcus, executive director of the New Jersey Poison Information and Education System, says the 84-year-old woman died Monday night after suffering lung damage caused by ingesting the kerosene-like substance.
The oil is sold in a clear plastic bottle labeled ``Tiki Torch Fuel.''
Officials say other incidents involved victims from Burlington and Bergen counties, Hillsborough, Elizabeth and Paterson.
Marcus said all have occurred since May 25th.
State health officials were preparing an electronic alert to local health officials about the incidents.
