Girls Basketball Coach Gets Seven Years for Sexual Assault
SOMERVILLE, N.J. (AP) -- The former coach of a high school girls basketball team has been sentenced to seven years in state prison for sexually assaulting a player.
Pamela Balogh was convicted in December of sexual assault and other charges, but acquitted of the most serious charge, aggravated sexual assault.
The 40-year-old Balogh had coached at Immaculata High School, a Roman Catholic school in Somerville, before resigning in 2005.
Somerset County prosecutors say her relationship with the student went on for more than nine months, beginning in 2004 when the girl was 15 and ending in 2005 when the player was 16.
