The Yankees raise money for children with cancer through their charity, the "Yankees Universe fund," so they decided to donate the David Ortiz shirt from the cement, along with a Yankees Universe T-shirt, to a similar Red Sox charity, "The Jimmy Fund."

"We decided why reward somebody who had very bad motives and was trying to do a very bad thing," said Yankees President Randy Levine.  "So we're going to put it with a Yankee Universe shirt, and send it up to Boston to "The Jimmy Fund," which serves the same purpose up in Boston, to cure kids with cancer, hopefully the Jimmy Fund will auction it off, and take an act that was a very bad act and turn it into something beautiful, and save some kids who are ill"
