NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Guilty verdict in second trial of Officer Timoshenko's killing.
WCBS Reporter Irene Cornell is in the courtroom with the details.
For Russel Timoshenko's parents this was a guilty verdict a long time in coming. They sat through two trials listening to
the details of his death of their young police officer son who was ambushed and killed in what should have been a routine car stop in Brooklyn.
Timoshenko's father stood with grief etched in his face, his mother with tears in her eyes as she said she thanked the jury and the prosecutors.
She did have one suggestion however, for our legal system. If only the jurors had been told about all the other crimes Lee Woods had committed before this one it would have been easier for them to convict him.
This was the second time around and Woods is now found guilty of first degree murder for the killing of Officer Timoshenko, guilty of attempted murder in the shooting of Det. Herman Yan.
