Privatizing the NJ Turnpike?

NEW YORK (WCBS 880)  -- Would you pay extra bucks to zip through the NJ Turnpike? State lawmakers are considering an idea to privatize the Turnpike. We get both sides of the argument from State Sen. Dick Codey and Bergen Record's Mike Kelly.

LISTEN: Privatizing is a great option
LISTEN: Government should be accountable for roads

According to The Star-Ledger, Codey said leasing one or more Turnpike lanes to a private operator could finance a pending $2.7 billion widening project without giant toll hikes for those who don't use the new lanes.

"It certainly puts a reasonable amount of money into the pot and does it without much pain to the taxpayers," he said.
