NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- On January 16, 1920, the 18th Amendment to the United States Constitution went into effect. Put simply, it made the manufacturing and sale of acohol illegal in America.
On December 5, 1933, the 21st Amendment was ratified. It repealed the 18th Amendment and ended prohibition.
During prohibition, the 21 Club in Manhattan was a speakeasy. Reporter Sean Adams paid them a visit.
