NJ Wedding Photographer Gets Probation in Theft

MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP)  -- The owner of a defunct New Jersey wedding photography business that failed to deliver wedding photos and videos to hundreds of couples has been sentenced to a year of probation and ordered to pay about $1 million in restitution.

The penalties imposed Friday by Superior Court Judge Salem Ahto against 47-year-old Marc Schwartz of Randolph are in addition to $3 million in civil fines and penalties imposed last year on him and his business, Celebration Studios.

Schwartz pleaded guilty in November to theft of services and entered a separate guilty plea on behalf of his company.

State prosecutors recommended that he remain free so he can work to pay off his debts.

Schwartz currently has no assets, but his attorney said he has a new job and his wages can be garnished.
