HEALTH TIPS
1. Women of all ages, starting in their teens, should perform breast self-exams.
2. Women should have a baseline mammogram between the ages of 35 and 40.
3. A woman is never too old to have a yearly mammogram. An 80-year-old woman is more at risk for breast cancer than a 70-year-old.
4. The American Cancer Society recommends that any woman with a 20% or greater risk of breast cancer have a yearly MRI for surveillance of breast cancer.
5. A healthy diet, low in fat, high in fruits and vegetables helps lower the risk of cancer.
6. Bone is an active organ in men and women and we are constantly making new bone throughout our lives. Calcium and vitamin D, as well as weight bearing exercise, is important to maintain healthy bones for all ages.
