Hi, I'm Steve Scott, afternoon news anchor here at WCBS Newsradio 880. At 6'5", I'm the "short" guy on the afternoon anchor team...Wayne Cabot has a couple inches on me!
I came to WCBS after 20 years in Chicago...including the last 13 at WLS-AM, where I was news director and morning anchor. I was born in California, and worked there until moving to Chicago in 1986.
I'll never forget my first day here at WCBS...9/11/06, the five year anniversary of the terror attacks.
Career highlights include reporting on the aftermath of 9/11 from Ground Zero...interviewing Fidel Castro in Havana...covering the Kosovo war from an aircraft carrier in the Adriatic Sea and also from Albania, where I interviewed Kosovar refugees...reporting from Bosnia...and covering just about every major story in Chicago and Illinois over the past two decades.
You should know that our afternoon team is much more than just Wayne and Steve! We have a very talented group of reporters - they are excellent storytellers! KC Connors on sports...Tom Kaminski and Lori Jordan on traffic...Ray Hoffman with business...and, of course, Craig Allen in the weather center...all do a great job. They are names you've grown to trust through the years. Our producers, including lead producer Jonathan Clark and Martin Untrojb, are among the best in the business. Our writers, Rob Hawley and Rivka Bukowski work very hard to write news stories in a way that actually makes sense to listeners. That's harder than you may think! And, our afternoon web content editor, Roxanne Geyer, does a fantastic job keeping wcbs880.com updated with the latest breaking news and features.
I'm very excited to be a part of the very best radio news team in America...at WCBS Newsradio 880!
