Steve Swenson has been WCBS 880’s Vice President & General Manager since 1998.
Steve began his career in Los Angeles in 1980 at KFWB News 98 which is one of two all-news stations in Southern California. He began in an entry-level news job working as a Desk Assistant and quickly rose through the ranks of writing and producing to become the KFWB Assistant News Director. In 1985 he was tapped to be the News Director of 1010 WINS in NYC. Two years later he was promoted to the position of Executive Editor/Program Director where he led the programming department until 1996.
In March of 1996 Steve accepted the position of Vice President and General Manager of CBS Radio affiliate WTOP in Washington, D.C where he ran our nation’s capital’s only news radio station. In the fall of 1998, he returned to take the top job here at WCBS 880. “My entire career has been working for the best all news radio stations in the country and it still excites me every single morning to head to work at WCBS Newsradio 880. There is no more exciting and fulfilling news job in the country than working at a news radio station. And being able to work with the professionals here at the flagship radio station of CBS is the ultimate for me,” says Swenson.
Steve resides in New York City and is most proud of his two sons. He enjoys golf, is a die hard Yankees’ fan and loves traveling.
