(AP) - New York State Senators are likely to spend the Fourth of July in the state capital, if they don't reach a power-sharing agreement. Gov. David Paterson says he'll keep the senate in daily sessions through the weekend. Yesterday afternoon, both factions vying for power in the Senate went into a joint session called by Paterson and quickly adjourned.

(AP) - The Labor Department today releases the June unemployment report. Economists expect to see the jobless rate rise to 9.6 percent. Employers are thought to have cut payrolls by 365,000 jobs.

(AP) - Medical waste washed ashore along an 8-mile stretch of Long Beach Island. Syringes and other debris were found from Barnegat Light to Surf City on Sunday. Officials are trying to trace the source.
