Two NYPD Cops Arrested for Pistol-Whipping Man

NEW YORK (AP) -- Two female police officers have been arrested on charges they kicked, punched and pistol-whipped a man who was blocking a busy Bronx street with his open car door.
The officers, who were off-duty, were driving a private car on Friday when they were stopped in traffic by a man whose car door was open. Police say the officers approached the man and a verbal dispute escalated into an assault.

The officers were arrested on Saturday and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon because one of their handguns was used in the attack.
The officers have been stripped of their badges and weapons. The New York Police Department's internal affairs office is investigating.
The man suffered bruises and a gash on his head that required stitches. |
