Westchester Students Get Explicit Sex Ed Lesson
|
IRVINGTON, NY (AP) -- Students at a Westchester middle school have been exposed to inappropriate sexual material - and many parents are fuming.
Informational brochures handed out at a wellness fair at the Irvington Middle School last week included material on oral and anal sex and how lesbians can protect themselves from HIV.
The school has apologized to the parents, saying the vendors had been advised of the children's age and asked to provide suitable information.
School athletics director, Arthur McCormack, told parents that not all the material had been available for preview, and accepted blame for the ``oversight.''
In the future, all materials handed out at school events will go through district approval.
