NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Yankee fans will soon have a new stop on their Metro-North station trains to see Yankee games.
WCBS Reporter Rich Lamb checks out the $91 million structure which will start taking fans to Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
The new station sign reads "Yankees-153rd Street" and the station is serving both the stadium and the South Bronx.
"Today, ladies and gentlemen, is really a grand slam homerun for the Borough of the Bronx and the City of New York," said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
The station rises from the Hudson line tracks to barrel vaulted translucent white roof that sheds lots of light and covers a ten-thousand square foot mezzanine.
They expect ten-thousand riders on game days.
The one-way peak Metro-North fare from Grand Central to the stadium is $6.50, on weekends you can get the ride for $3.50.
One caution though, the $91 million station does not have a bathroom.
