CT Town Holding Meeting About Incoming Sex Offender
|
SOUTHBURY, CT (AP) -- State police in Southbury have organized a meeting to answer resident's questions about a convicted serial rapist who is moving to town.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Pomperaug High School. Troopers, state probations officials, state lawmakers and local politicians are expected to attend.
David Pollitt, 54, has completed his prison sentence after serving more than 24 years for sexual assaults on women in Old Lyme, Waterford, Killingworth, Rocky Hill and Wallingford. Police also suspected him of rapes in other towns in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
He is expected to move in with his sister's family in Southbury on Friday. He'll be under some of the strictest probation regulations in the country.
State lawmakers and local officials tried Wednesday to get state government officials to intervene and stop Pollitt's move to town, but were unsuccessful.
