Working here at WCBS since 1988 has been an amazing experience. My role is to come up with ideas that promote our news, features, sponsored events, and Yankees coverage. I write the script, then use digital audio software to bring the concept to fruition (when I first started here, I used tape and edited with razor blades...a challenge  younger members of the newsroom have no clue about!) I can't describe how rewarding it is when someone comes to me and says "that piece you did was really clever" or when an account executive tells me "the client is thrilled with what you did for them."

When I looked at all the things I might do with my life, I wanted to find something I really enjoyed. Having been a huge radio fan as a kid, it was natural to follow that path. After getting my hands into various facets of the business, this is where I decided to focus...creative writing and production. Besides the pieces I mentioned earlier, I also provide archive sound and music to our reporters for their pieces. Plus I produce commercials and also write and produce our awards presentations. Reviewing the audio from our coverage of a story, then putting the cuts together in a montage that puts our best foot forward takes a lot of time.  But it's worth it when the station takes home an award for all the hard work we put in. We've been fortunate to win many awards over the years for coverage of some of biggest news events of our time.

Seeing how WCBS has evolved from traditional over the air broadcasting to the amazing service we now provide online is very exciting for me. There's just so much audio and video on our website available on demand that it's changing the whole dynamic of how people use the radio station. It's a far cry from the days I spent as a kid listening on a hand held transistor radio (or the old tube radio in the kitchen where I listened for school closings with my mom). But the station's role remains essentially the same...to be a vital source of information for people whenever they need it. To have played a role in that mission, and to have worked with such dedicated people over the years has been an honor indeed.
