Barry Siegfried

Having passed the 30-year mark at WCBS Newsradio 880 my experiences and responsibilities have been many and varied.  I have always functioned in a broadcast engineering capacity, and from that stable platform I have had other responsibilities which have come and gone over the years.  Some of my milestones have been:
- Operated the on-air console for Lou Adler and Jim Donnelly (morning drive at WCBS Newsradio 880) - 1976 through 1978 - Supervised all production engineering at WCBS Newsradio 880 - 1978 through 1988
- Operated the on-air console for Harry Harrison (morning drive at WCBS-FM) - 1985 through 1988
- Supervised software engineering for all on-air and newsroom microcomputer applications at WCBS Newsradio 880 - 1985 through 1992
- Functioned as executive producer of the NY Jets Football radio broadcasts on WCBS Newsradio 880 - 1981 through 1983 (I earned a NY State Broadcasters Association award for Best Outstanding Coverage Of A Local Sporting Event in 1983) and 1988 through 1992
- Supervised audio compact disc remastering of the WCBS-FM record library - 1994 through 1996
- Operated the on-air console for Ron Lundy's last show at WCBS-FM on September 18, 1997
- Supervised the move of the WCBS Newsradio 880 studios and transmitter remote control point from Black Rock to Broadcast Center in 2000
- Developed and implemented Klotz configuration programming and audio/control interface wiring in order to provide the capability of originating a network for broadcasting NY Yankees baseball games in 2002 and be the flagship CBS Radio station to stream its programming on the internet in 2005
- Responsible for all things pertaining to WCBS Newsradio 880 studio technical maintenance, wiring, equipment installation/troubleshooting and the development of configuration programming revisions for implementing changing operational requirements for Klotz audio routing frames, consoles and computers since 2000

I have been at WCBS Newsradio 880 for so long now and it is so much a part of my everyday life that I can’t imagine what it would be like to work anywhere else.  The people with whom I work at this wonderful radio station are all consummate professionals and I hold the highest personal regard for each and every one of them.  Sometimes I think I have the greatest job in the world.  Other times, I know I do!
