E-Mail Story Print Story Text Size:   A   A   A Posted: Thursday, 08 November 2007 4:15PM Avoid Bridge and Tunnel Tie-Ups with Port Authority Traffic Alerts NEWARK, N.J. (AP)  -- Hoping to avoid that tie up on the Lincoln Tunnel?     Starting Friday, commuters can sign up for electronic alerts to hear about delays and other traffic problems on tunnels and bridge crossings that span the Hudson River.     The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will issue alerts informing motorists about delays from accidents, police activity, construction and heavy volume.     The agency already uses alerts for its PATH train service.     NJ Transit also issues similar alerts, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will do the same for New York City subway riders next year.     Subscribers can sign up on the Port Authority's Web site. © MMVII The Associated Press.
