AAA: CT Gas Prices Have Sharply Gone Up

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP)  -- AAA says gasoline prices in Connecticut have increased sharply after declining for four straight months.

Connecticut motorists are paying an average of $3.21 for a gallon of regular unleaded gas, up from $2.86 in October.

In November 2006, the price was $2.30 a gallon.

Connecticut has the second highest prices of the eight states in the Northeast, with New York averaging $3.24 a gallon.

Nationally, the average price went up in the past month, from $2.76 a gallon to $3.10. A year ago the national average was $2.23 a gallon.

The automobile association surveys about 1,000 gas stations in Connecticut and nearly 100,000 across the country daily to determine average prices.
