Reporter Peter Haskell spoke with the Department of Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, about the best ways to navigate the city.
'We are ready for the thousands of folks that will be coming into the streets of New York City to do their holiday shopping,' said Sadik-Khan.
Sadik-Khan says these are the days that are typically more congested, and people are urged to take mass transit.
Deputy Commissioner Michael Primeggia says only emergency road construction will be allowed.
'Regular scheduled construction, roadway construction, public and private projects. Those are the ones that will be curtailed,' said Primeggia.
In addition, the New York Police Department will have people out trying to keep the intersections clear.
