Man faces bank threat charges in New York
|
NEW YORK (AP) -- Authorities say a grand jury has indicted a fugitive with U.S. and Portuguese citizenship on charges that he made bomb threats against four Manhattan banks last August.
Law enforcement authorities say 28-year-old Allan Guedes Sharif was indicted in a federal court in Manhattan. He's accused of making threats by telephone to Deutsche (DOY-cha) Bank, the Bank of New York, Bank of America and Societe Generale.
A warrant has been issued for Sharif's arrest. Authorities say he was living in Portugal as of late last year.
If convicted, Sharif could face life in prison.
He also has been accused of making threats against banks in the Miami area.
