Rough Friday for NYPD



NEW YORK (WCBS-AM)  -- Three of New York's finest were arrested Friday for engaging in illegal activities with drug dealers.

Roosevelt Green, a 46-year-old veteran of the NYPD was arrested Friday after he allegedly used a department computer to run the license plates of cars thought to be trailing a major Long Island drug dealer. He received a sweat suit and a pair of sneakers in return.

Green was arrested and charged with unlawfully using a police computer and making a false statement to investigators. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

In addition, two other NYPD officers were arrested and suspended without pay Friday after they were charged with paying off an informant with drugs and cash.

Sergeant Michael Arenella and Officer Jerry Bowens of the Narcotics Division face a myriad of charges including, criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a controlled substance, official misconduct, and petit larceny.
