NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- The latest secession seed was planted by Mayor Bloomberg's reent gripe that New York City residents send $11 billion more to Albany than the five boroughs get in return.
That's not a new complaint, and council member Peter Vallone, Jr. has been part of past efforts that have fallen short, as any exit would need Albany's ok.

'They actually believe that they support us, while the truth is, without New York City, New York state would be fighting with Arkansas for last when it comes to economic production,' said Vallone.
But he says it's time to start the process again, and the New York Sun says the council will hold a hearing on Vallone's proposal.
