Joe Avellar

Joe comes to WCBS after twelve years as reporter and substitute anchor at NBC4 in New York.

"Joe knows New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, and the Tri-state knows him," said Crys Quimby, WCBS Program Director.  "We are very excited to welcome him to the talented and award winning 880 news team."

Before moving to New York in 1994, Joe was a reporter/anchor at KCBS TV and KCAL TV in Los Angeles for nearly five years.  During more than twenty years as a broadcast journalist, Joe's work has been recognized with many awards including two Emmys and an RTNDA Edward R.
