Connecticut Company Prepares for Papal Visit

NEW YORK (WCBS 880)  -- At St. Patrick's Cathedral, every candle stick has been polished, straightened and re-plated if necessary all at the hands of Patrick Baker and Sons here in Connecticut. Sean Baker, whose family started the liturgical supply business, can't recall how many trips he's made back in forth from Connecticut to St. Patrick's.

"It's a big undertaking. Our trucks go in weekly to deliver candles and other liturgical items," said Baker.

WCBS Reporter Fran Schneidau spoke to Baker about his preparations.

Baker says that means supplying the church with everything from vestments for the priests taking part in the papal visit, to the candles, the alter breads and wines. The biggest challenge, he said, was getting the job done in just in four months.
