Whenever someone says "I heard you guys talking about (fill in the blank)" it renews my pride to be anchoring on the premier news station in America. Being invited into people's cars and lives, day after day, is an honor beyond words.
It's especially fulfilling to continue a legendary tradition that I've enjoyed, as a listener, since the 1970s, when Pat and Ben anchored the afternoons. Visiting them in the studio was a kick. Succeeding them on WCBS is radio's equivilent of pitching in October at Yankee Stadium.
My years in the minors began at WCRV in Washington, NJ in 1980. Tours of duty included WLEV/WEST in Easton, PA; WPST/WHWH in Trenton; WFIL/Power99 in Philadelphia; WKXW in Trenton; and finally 1010 WINS before arriving at WCBS in 1988.
When I'm not driving into Manhattan from Hunterdon County, NJ or reading the Star-Ledger
as preparation, I'm working out at the gym, hiking the hills, playing with the kids, and all-too-rarely, squeezing in 9 holes.
