Christmas Decorations Finally Taken Down from Town Tree

WINSTED, Conn. (AP)  -- It was more than just a matter of procrastinating for some folks in Winsted to finally take down their tree Christmas decorations and lights.

It's the town Christmas tree and the holiday season ended about four months ago.

But training, busy schedules and uncooperative weather delayed the removal of decorations and lights of Winsted's Christmas tree until last week.

Firefighters with Tower One were finally able to remove the lights and star topping the tree.

A fire captain says the annual untrimming of the tree was delayed primarily because rain left East End Park too soft to support the heavy aerial ladder truck required to reach the top of the tree.
