Fire Burns at Abandoned Pabst Brewery
|
NEWARK, NJ (AP) -- The remains of a former Pabst brewery are burning in Newark.
Firefighters are fighting flames at the partly demolished building that were reported about 8 a.m.
Newark Fire Chief Michael Lalor says the fire began on a lower floor and spread upwards on the six-story structure.
The brewery has been closed since 1986, but the building and others on the 10-acre site are sometimes occupied by squatters.
