TAMPA (WCBS 880) -- I left my house at 5:30 this morning, and the temperature in the car read twelve degrees. Traffic and Weather together told me minus three with the wind chill. My near frost-bitten hands felt more like minus nineteen, in the two minutes I waited for a shuttle bus to bring me to the airport terminal.

What a change of scenery when I arrived in Tampa. No, it's not eighty degrees -- yet. But, it feels like a tropical paradise, still. From my hotel balcony, I must've snapped fifty digital photos of the sun setting on Tampa Bay.
After picking up my rental car, I spent some time at Legends Field. Re-acquainted myself after being away last February, covering the Winter Olympics. Talked with Jorge Posada about Bernie Williams. Saw Andy Pettitte and Mike Mussina laughing in the clubhouse.
Tomorrow is the first time that the 2007 Yankees will practice together. The fun is just beginning.
