Hateful Graffiti Found on Long Island
|
HAUPPAGE, NY (AP) -- Authorities say they are investigating whether inflammatory language found on a wall of a Long Island strip mall was directed at Hispanics.
The graffiti was found Monday night in Bay Shore.
Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy says it included such phrases as ``Latinos go home,'' ``Get out of the USA,'' and ``leave or die.''
Dan Aug, a spokesman for the county executive, says it is not clear who was the intened target of the graffiti. He says the strip mall has several Hispanic-owned stores but that the graffiti did not appear on any of those businesses.
Aug says the writing is being investigated as a hate incident of making graffiti.
