Your All-Star Guide

NEW YORK (WCBS 880)  -- It's All-Star week in New York City.  Clear your schedules baseball fans, Major League Baseball has you busy! The 79th All-Star week is bigger than ever and is in "The Big Apple".  It's been 31 years since the last time New York hosted the All-Star Games.

Join us as we cover the fourth annual All-Star Game Red Carpet from 40th Street to 58th Street from 1pm to 3pm.  You're bound to see one of your favorite players because this year more than 110 of baseball's greatest current and retired players will star on the Red Carpet.  New York's own Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, and Mariano Rivera will be joined by baseball hall of famers Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Yogi Berra.  You too can be a part of the expected million people watching the parade.  It's an event you won't want to miss.

Tuesday night brings us the event that we've all been waiting for... The All-Star Game.

Pre-game starts at 7:30pm here on WCBS 880AM and we're joining ESPN at 8pm before the first pitch

People are coming from all over to experience this Major League tradition, but they aren't coming with empty wallets.  Business Editor of Crain's New York, Greg David talks with us about how the All-Stars are effecting the economy

with all the events.

With 175,000 people visting the city, Mayor Bloomberg estimates $148 million of additonal revenue made from the multi-day events.  The vendors along side the Red Carpet will also benefit from the All-Stars.  But where is most of the money coming from?

Steve Scott: "Of course a lot of that money is going to ticket prices, what are people paying to get into the stadium?"

Greg David: "It only costs $100 to sit in the bleachers"

What could you be spending All-Star Week:

All-Star Parade- FREE
FanFest Tickets- $30
All-Star Game Tickets (Bleachers)- $100
All-Star Game Tickets (Best Seats)- $750
Tickets vary based on seats
