TORRINGTON, CT (AP) -- A 26-year-old Torrington man has been charged with beating up his 83-year-old grandmother and trying to set her cars on fire.
John Bredickas has pleaded not guilty to breach of peace, assault on an elderly victim, attempt to commit arson and criminal mischief.
Bantam Superior Court Judge Charles Gill told Bredickas Wednesday that when someone starts punching 83-year-old grandmothers around, ``you got to think something is wrong with you.''
Police say Bredickas had been drinking Tuesday and during a fit of anger struck his grandmother then poured gasoline over two of her cars, but apparently didn't have a match to start them ablaze.
Bond has been set at $25,000 and Bredickas has been ordered to stay away from his grandmother's house.
