Boy Falls From Balcony at LI Mall

MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (AP)  -- A 12-year-old boy has been injured after falling from a second-floor balcony at a Long Island mall.

Nassau County police say the boy's injuries aren't life-threatening but he's been taken to a hospital. They say they don't know if the boy jumped or fell Thursday at the Sunrise mall in Massapequa (mass-uh-PEE'-kwuh).

Mall workers say the boy landed near a coffee kiosk on the first floor. Witnesses say a man who appeared to be his dad ran to help him.

A worker in a nearby eyeglasses store says a doctor who was inside went to check on the boy before paramedics showed up to treat him.
