Plymouth Synagogue
Light enters through windows inside the Plymouth Synagogue as it opens its doors to promote English Heritage's and the Civic Trust's 2008 Heritage Open Days on September 3 2008 in Plymouth, England. The building dating from 1762 - and which narrowly survived the Blitz on Plymouth during the Second World War - is the oldest Ashkenazi Synagogue still in regular use in the English speaking world. The Synagogue will be open to the public later in the month. (Photo by Matt Cardy/Getty Images)
