"Dreadlocks Ban Discriminates"
|
NEW YORK (AP) -- The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has sued New York's Grand Central Partnership, saying four public safety officers are being discriminated against because of their dreadlocks.
The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in Manhattan federal court.
The workers say they've been scolded for failing to keep uniform caps covering their dreadlocks, which conform with their Rastafarian beliefs.
A spokesman for the Grand Central Partnership said he had no immediate comment.
