When Are the First Home Openers for Yankees, Mets in 2009?

NEW YORK (WCBS 880)  -- The 2009 Major League Baseball schedule is released and it looks like the Yankees will face the Indians in the first at home series in the new stadium and the Mets will take on the Padres in their first at home series.

According to the Yankees, the team will come out of Spring Training and opens the new campaign on the road, kicking off the season with an April 6-9 series against the Orioles in Baltimore and traveling to play the Kansas City Royals April 10-12 and the Tampa Bay Rays April 13-15 as anticipation builds back at home.

On the Mets website, they say the Mets will play the Reds on Monday, April 6, in one of 14 games scheduled for the season's first day, move on to Miami after three games to play a weekend series against the Marlins and then open the new home, their third home, against the Padres at night on April 13.
