NEW YORK (WCBS) -- As the nation pauses to mark the 4th Anniversary of the start of the War in Iraq, the issue of the War clearly dominates much of the conversation on the Campaign Trail.
WCBS's Steve Scott, in our 'Eye on Politics' segment checks in with New York Times National Political Correspondent Adam Nagourney. In their conversation, Nagourney says that 'while it's risky' to predict how large a role the War Issue will have on the decision of voters next year, it's hard to see how anything will change dramatically before the first votes are cast.

Nagourney talks to us after spending the past few days following Republican Candidate John McCain onboard his 'Straight Talk Express' Bus. By all accounts, McCain knows he needs to overcome a few challenges including his age. If the Arizona Senator becomes the next President, at age 72, he would become the oldest ever elected President. McCain told reporters this weekend he feels more comfortable running this time based on his experience in running in campaigns past.
Nagourney also talks about how the Democrats are doing at this stage in the campaign and expresses a bit of surprise that Bill Clinton is taking so prominent a public role I the campaign so early. Bill Clinton headlined a big political fundraiser in New York City for his wife last night.
