NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Bridgeport, Connecticut is not immune to the economic woes hitting the rest of the country.
Newly-elected Congressman Jim Himes meets with Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch regarding the city's financial needs.
WCBS Reporter Fran Schneidau attended a news conference from Finch where he expressed his thanks to Congressman Chris Shays for his years of service. But, Finch makes it clear that he expects Democrat Himes to deliver for the financially pressed city.
"He's gonna be in the majority party now and he's gonna be able to go to Speaker Pelosi and say 'I need things' that the previous member of Congress was never able to do," said Finch.
Since taking office this year, Finch has struggled with a $20 million deficit the city inherited. Finch says new numbers on the city's burgeoning deficit will be announced.
