3 Juries to Weigh NYPD Officer's Murder

NEW YORK (AP)  -- Three juries have been chosen for the simultaneous trials of three men accused of killing a police officer and wounding another during a Brooklyn traffic stop.

Dexter Bostic, Robert Ellis and Lee Woods could go on trial as soon as Monday. They are charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in the shootings on July 9, 2007. They sparked an intense manhunt that spanned several states.

Officer Russel Timoshenko was killed. His partner, now Detective Herman Yan, was shot in the chest. His bullet-resistant vest saved his life.

Each defendant has his own jury because the men have made contradictory claims blaming the shootings on one another.

If convicted, they face life in prison without the possibility of parole.
