GROTON, Conn. (AP) -- The Connecticut National Guard is investigating why a man was run over by a military helicopter being towed to a hangar in Groton.
The incident happened on the ground at the Groton-New London Airport, around 3 p.m. on Monday.
Police say four Department of Defense civilian contractors were towing an inoperative UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter toward a hangar. One of the two ``wing walkers'' was run over by the helicopter's left front tire. The man suffered multiple compound fractures to his leg. He was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Members of the crew have been decertified pending the internal safety investigation.
