Racial Slurs Scrawled Across Long Island Community

MASTIC, NY (WCBS 880)  -- Words to ugly to mention scrolled across the vehicles and property of more then a dozen residents here in this mixed quiet, working class neighborhood in Mastic.

LISTEN: More Hate on Long Island

Lynne amoung the victims. She tells WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs, "It's all over the place. It's just sickening. You know...it's sad. It really is sad.

Parents are shielding the eyes of children from the slurs as they head off to school. Steve is one homeowner expecting some good from all this hate.

Steve says, "One thing about something like this - when everybody becomes a victim - it brings us all a little bit closer together."

Many of the slurs target minorites in the name of Obama.
