Westchester Group Wants to Eliminate County Government
WHITE PLAINS, NY (AP) -- A group of residents in the New York suburbs who want to eiliminate county government where they live plan to take their message to the Internet.
Rethinking Westchester Government announced Wednesday that it plans to launch a Web site where residents can learn how they can live without county government.
Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner said at a meeting of about 100 people opposed to county government that the goal of the movement is to ``find waste at every level.'' He said that there is much ``fat'' that can be cut from county government.
Feiner called on volunteers to do research and to contribute to the Web site.
Deputy County Executive Larry Schwartz said county government is the solution to holding down property taxes.
