Inside the New Giants Stadium

NEW YORK (AP/ WCBS 880)  -- Officials from the New York Giants and New York Jets are showing off the work that's been done on their new stadium.

They're hosting a tour of the new, $1.3 billion building Thursday. It's about 60 percent completed, and more than a million work hours have been put into the project.

The stadium is scheduled to open in time for the 2010 NFL season and will be used by both teams.

Over the summer, the Giants and Jets announced they will charge personal seat license fees for season ticket holders to retain their seats. Last month the Jets held a first-ever online auction for the best seats in the house and raised about $16 million.

WCBS Reporter Peter Haskell took a tour this afternoon and comes back with this description.

One of the things that is most striking about this building is its sheer size. It almost looks like you could take the current Giant Stadium and put it inside this building...and the fact is, you almost could.

In terms of square footage, this building is more than double the size of the existing facility.

This is very much under construction, they're still putting in the steel for the lower deck. They're putting in the pre-cast concrete for the middle levels and for the upper deck.

Right now, there is actually one of three cranes here hoisting one of the light towers up.
